Two seasons. Twenty-six episodes total written by some of the best horror screenplay writers, or so the show says. Its a great concept and as a horror fanatic it seemed like the perfect series for me. I’ve seen it before, but it had been a few years, so when I found it on hulu I thought that I might as well watch it from the very beginning. The link is here. I reviewed each episodes for your enjoyment.
Masters of Horror is a series of one hour long stories that does not have a consecutive plot. If you are wondering how that’s possible, well there’s this cult classic from the 1960’s that also had been remastered when I was a child called The Outer Limits. Basically for one hour every week you get a scary or strange storytelling.
Season Two Parts Three and Four
The V Word
Two gamer nerds who had only seen carnage in video games make a late night visit to a funeral home. They go look at their dead friend’s body and then sees Justin’s cousin dead.
Wait. I can’t do a play-by-play of this episode. It was not a good episode for Masters of Horror. Kerry was to built to be a geek, so he was more of a jock who is friends with a geek to keep him from getting beaten up. The funeral home is freakishly big and I highly doubt a funeral home would leave all those corpses out for anyone to steal. Also, the police have to investigate all allegations of murder. Its completely ridiculous.
I give “The V Word” 1 out of 5 remotes.
Okay, the title is very appropriate, but this was one of those episodes that could have been left out. The acting was supreme, but the pace was a little slow for my taste.
The story is about Larry who has extraordinarily advanced hearing. Its so sharp he can hear a pin drop in a noisy, crowded room, but he cannot control it. We end up watching him go mad and cut his ears off. He does kill his wife before then.
To tell the truth it did not even get my heart racing.
1 out of 5 remotes.
